Why isn't FreightDesk Print Manager connecting on my Mac?
Learn how to fix FreightDesk Print Manager connection issues on Apple Silicon Macs by installing Apple's Rosetta 2 software.
If you've installed FreightDesk Print Manager on your Mac but FreightDesk Online still asks you to install it, your computer may be missing Apple's Rosetta 2 software.
This can happen on newer Macs that use Apple's M-series processors, including the M1, M2, M3, and M4.
Why does this happen?
FreightDesk Print Manager uses a software component designed for Intel-based Macs. Newer Macs use Apple Silicon processors, which may need Apple's Rosetta 2 software to run older Intel-based applications.
Without Rosetta 2, FreightDesk Print Manager may install successfully but fail to connect to FreightDesk Online.
How to fix the connection
Step 1: Open Terminal on your Mac
- Press Command (⌘) + Space on your keyboard.
- Type Terminal in the search box.
- Press Return to open Terminal.
Step 2: Install Rosetta 2
Copy the following command, paste it into Terminal, and press Return:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta
Apple may ask you to agree to its software license. If prompted, type A and press Return.
Wait for the installation to finish. You should see a message confirming that Rosetta 2 was installed successfully.
Step 3: Restart FreightDesk Print Manager
- Quit FreightDesk Print Manager if it's running.
- Open Finder.
- Press Command (⌘) + Shift + G.
- Enter the following folder location:
/Library/FreightDeskOnline/1.0.0
- Double-click FreightDeskOnline to launch the application.
Note: The folder location above applies to Print Manager version 1.0. Your installation location may differ if you're using another version.
Step 4: Confirm the connection
- Open FreightDesk Online in your web browser.
- Go to Settings → Printer Settings.
- Refresh the page.
- Confirm that the message "FreightDesk Print Manager Connected" appears.
Once connected, click Document Options next to the type of document you want to print. Then select Load Installed Printers to choose your printer.
