Use the Standard Box Sizes plugin to obtain the most accurate shipping rates possible.
The Standard Box Sizes plugin is compatible with the following Eniture Technology plugins:
- FedEx Small Package Quotes
- Purolator Small Package Quotes
- Unishippers Small Package Quotes
- UPS Small Package Quotes
- Worldwide Express (WWE) Small Package Quotes
The plugin allows you to identify your standard box sizes so they can be used to calculate a packaging solution that mirrors what should occur during order fulfillment. We highly recommend this feature if your operation uses standard box sizes. It ensures that your customers will receive the most accurate rates possible, and the packaging solution is saved with the order so it can be viewed while the order is being packed.
When enabled the Additional Order Details widget on the Order Details page will contain detailed information on the contents of each box. A step-by-step graphical illustration of the packaging solution is also available to assist with the packing of each box.
The Standard Box Sizes feature identifies a packaging solution that results in the fewest number of boxes to minimize the shipping cost on the order.
When the Standard Box Sizes feature is not enabled, the Small Package Quotes plugin will allow you to choose between one of two options:
- Quote each item as shipping as its own package.
- Combine the weight of all items without dimensions and quote them as one package while quoting each item with dimensions as shipping as its own package.
Long-time users of the Small Package Quotes plugin may also see a third option to use a deprecated packaging algorithm. This option will not be visible to merchants who installed the plugin after the old packaging algorithm was deprecated.
