There are no shipping methods available for your cart or destination

When Shopify fails to retrieve rates during the checkout process, it will display the message

There are a number of reasons why this may occur:

  1. The application(s) that are to provide rate estimates aren't properly configured.
  2. The product shipping parameters for the items in the cart aren't populated correctly.
  3. The address being entered by the shopper is invalid.
  4. The Shopify > Shipping settings aren't set up properly.
  5. The shoppers address isn't in a zone that you've defined in the Shopify > Shipping settings.
  6. If live carrier rates are being retrieved, the carrier's web service or API may be temporarily offline.

Regardless of the reason, this message may frustrate your shopper who may try to repeat the checkout process several times and ultimately abandon the cart. You can improve the experience of your shopper by changing the message that displays.

To change the message, navigate to Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit languages.  Search for No rates for cart or destination notice.

Replace the default message with something better.  For example, you may replace it with something like this:

We aren't able to retrieve a shipping quote for you at this moment. Please call us at 1-800-555-5555 so we can help complete your transaction.

Don't forget to save your changes.
