The Default LTL Shipping Settings section allows you to predefine common shipment details that automatically appear on your Order and Quote pages.
These settings streamline repetitive data entry and ensure consistency across all LTL freight shipments.
Default settings are available for:
- Common Shipment References (Purchase Order Number, Shipper Number, etc.)
-
Common Additional Settings (Liftgate, Residential Delivery, etc.)
Accessing Default LTL Shipping Settings
-
Navigate to Settings → Default Settings.
-
Scroll down to Default LTL Shipping Settings.
Defaults for Common Shipment References
This section lets you define reference fields, such as Purchase Order Number, Requested Arrival Date, or Shipper Reference, that are commonly used in LTL freight documentation.
What you can define:
-
Reference Type: The kind of reference you want to appear (e.g., Purchase Order Number).
-
Reference Number: A default value that pre-populates this field.
-
Number of Packages: Defines a default package count for the shipment.
Important:
-
These defaults appear on the FreightDesk Online Order and Quote pages when supported by the selected carrier’s API.
-
Whether references also appear on shipment documents (like the Bill of Lading or labels) depends on the carrier’s system.
-
When references are not displaying where expected, confirm with your carrier if these fields are supported in their API. Changes for carrier supported fields may be requested by emailing support@eniture.com. Include: The carrier name, Screenshots of your Default LTL Shipping Settings, A recent Quote or Order example.
Tooltips and Helper Text in the Interface
To help users understand how defaults behave, FreightDesk Online includes contextual tooltips:
-
Number of Packages Field Tooltip: “Applies to select carriers only. Confirm support with your carrier.”
-
Reference Type Tooltip: “Reference types vary by carrier. Confirm support with your carrier.”
-
Helper Text (Section Header): “Define your default shipping settings for your LTL Freight accounts. These defaults appear on the Order and Quote pages—and on shipment documents—only when supported by the selected carrier’s API. Confirm support with your carrier.”
Defaults for Common Additional Settings
When enabled, the options you select (such as Liftgate Required or Residential Delivery) will automatically appear as pre-selected on all new Quotes and Orders.
-
These settings apply to all supported carriers.
-
You can override them per order or quote if needed.
Tips
-
Use default settings to save time and reduce manual errors for commonly used shipment parameters.
-
Review your carrier’s documentation or confirm with their support team to ensure compatibility.
-
For advanced users managing multiple carriers, define defaults conservatively to avoid unsupported fields appearing empty.
